TILOMED®

Prevention and treatment of diseases caused by bacterials sensitive to Tilmicosin, in addition to Apramycin sulfate as a secondary supporter

Contains per 1 liter:

.Tilmicosin (as phosphate) 250 gm.
.Apramycin sulfate 111 gm
.Solvents ad. 1 liter

Origin of the molecule: Concentrate for oral solution contains tilmicosin, it is a semi synthetic macrolide antibiotic obtained from tylosin which is affecting bacterial protein synthesis, Macrolides have been used for decades as treatment for a wide range of infectious diseases, but their effect on respiratory infe- ctions have been getting an increased interest.
Structure and activity: Tilmicosin has a wide spectrum of activity against gram positive organisms of porcine, avian and bovine origin as well as some activity against gram-negative micro organisms, cross-resistance between tilmicosin and other macrolide antibiotics and lincosamides has been observed, tilmicosin may lessen antibacterial activity of ß-lactam antibiotics.
Mode of action: Macrolide antibiotics are bacteriostatic compounds that reversibly bind to the 50s ribosome subunit and inhibit mrna-directed protein synthesis of the susceptible micro organisms, the tilmicosin spectrum of activity includes Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Mycoplasma synoviae and gram-positive bacteria and some gram-negative germs.

For oral administration
-Calves: 1 ml per 20 kg body weight, administered twice daily in artificial milk for 3-5 days.
-Poultry: 300 ml per 1000 litres of water (75 ppm) continuously for 3 days.
-Swine: 800 ml per 1000 litres of water (200 ppm) continuously for 5 days.
-No other source of drinking water should be available during medication period.
-After the end of the medication period, water supply system should be cleaned appropriately to avoid intake of sub therapeutic amounts of the active substance which might support development of resistance.

The ideal location for a storage unit is a clean, dry, frost-free area, such as a farm office or utility room, animal health products should be protected from changes in temperature, sunlight, dust, moisture, animals and insects.

Not for human consumption.
For veterinary use only.
Caution: Do not allow horses or other equines access to feeds containing Tilmicosin.
